The M72 LAW is a lightweight, disposable unguided anti-tank weapon developed for individual use and first deployed during the Vietnam War.
In 1963, the M72 LAW was adopted by the US Army and US Marine Corps as their primary individual infantry anti-tank weapon, replacing the M31 HEAT rifle grenade and the M20A1 "Super Bazooka" in the US Army. It was subsequently adopted by the US Air Force to serve in an anti-emplacement/anti-armor role in Air Base Defense duties. In 1987, the M72 LAW was replaced by Swedish M136 AT4.
