H&K M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle, knows as M27 IAR, is a variant of the HK416 Rifle which equips with a 16 inch heavy type barrel, devloped from the D16.5RS model in 2008. It is a lightweight, magazine-fed Rifles used by US Marine and served as a replacement of the M249 LMG currently using by US Marine Infantry and Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalions.

M27 IAR draws ammunition from a standard 30 round magazine. Due to its role, high capacity magazines of between 50 and 100 rounds are being explored (known the 100 round C-MAG is compaitable), and successfully test fired with the 150 round drum magazine.
